Kudos Blends to Tackle Salt Reduction at House of Commons
Kudos Blends, the leading manufacturer and supplier of baking powders and raising agents, has been recognised for its innovative work in salt reduction on two national levels.
Kudos Blends is honoured to be a sponsor of this week’s National Salt Awareness Week (26 – 31 March) and has been invited to a reception on salt reduction at the House of Commons on Wednesday 28 March.
The business, based in Cleobury Mortimer on the Shropshire/Worcestershire border, is proving instrumental in the research of reducing salt in the food industry. Its innovative KUDOS™ Potassium Bicarbonate Baking Powder is leading the way in salt reduction in bakery products.
Steph Skellern of Kudos Blends gave a presentation at the Advances in Salt and Sodium Reduction Conference in London in February where they were then invited by the Consensus Action on Salt and Health (CASH) to sponsor National Salt Awareness Week and join them at a reception at the House of Commons.
Miss Skellern and Kudos Blends Managing Director Dinnie Jordan will join MPs,
healthcare professionals and other food manufactures at the House of Commons this Wednesday to discuss how to raise awareness of the health benefits of reducing salt and sodium.
“We are delighted to be supporting Salt Awareness Week and to have been invited to the House of Commons to discuss salt and sodium reduction with other thought leaders. Progress is being made by all the processed food industry, but there is still a long way to go before we can successfully say we have reduced the salt intake of consumers,” said Mrs Jordan.
“We are educating bakers all around the world as many think that reducing salt will affect the taste, quality and shelf-life of their products, but we know it doesn’t have to be like that. Potassium is a key alternative to sodium in many products and there are a wide range of associated health benefits which is why we created our KUDOS™ potassium bicarbonate baking powder.”
Kudos Blends opened a £750,000 expansion to its blending and milling facility in Cleobury Mortimer in September last year to meet growing demand for its products, including its KUDOS™ Potassium Bicarbonate.
