New Herefordshire Farm Shop Officially Opens!

Church Barn Farm Shop in Whitney on Wye is celebrating its opening by inviting customers to a tasting morning to sample the local products on offer.
The new farm shop is a diversification of Stowe Farm, a family run farm in its third generation. The shop, which is a barn renovation, will stock produce from the farm as well as a wide range of food and drink from local producers.
On Saturday 3 March between 10am – 12.30pm customers are invited to the shop to sample some of the artisan produce. The site also boasts the Farm Kitchen which serves breakfast, lunch and delicious cakes and snacks, all using locally sourced ingredients.
Church Barn Farm Shop is a member of food group HEART of ENGLAND fine foods (HEFF) and benefited from the organisation’s Savour the Flavour scheme receiving free retail equipment including a freezer, island unit and shelving to help promote local food and drink.
The new enterprise will primarily be run by family member Ceri Price with the help and support of father-in-law Lewis Price.
“We are very much a family run business and feel passionately about the village we live in. We are very proud of our farming heritage and want to promote the great produce we have in our region,” said Ceri.
“We feel consumers now want quality for the money they spend and want to know where their produce is coming from with a consideration for food miles.”
This is a new direction for Ceri who had been teaching for almost 10 years before leaving the profession to have her two sons.
She said: “I married into a farming family and I wanted to be able to support the farm and my father in law has allowed me a great opportunity to develop our own farm shop and stock our own farm produce where possible. We have great produce in our region and we believe that we should be promoting this.”
